Finally, an update!! Greetings taiko folks, and apologies for the long delay in conference news...but now, we do indeed, have some news...
First, please join me in welcoming our 2005 North American Taiko Conference Coordinator, Lesley Handa!!! Lesley has served diligently since 1999 as a conference staff member, and we are excited about her stepping up to the challenge of taking on the entire conference on her own. Stay tuned for more updates, which will be made by Lesley from here on out as I (Bryan) ride off into the sunset...
Second, mark your calendars!! The 2005 North American Taiko Conference is set for:
July 15 - 17, 2005 | Los Angeles, California

The
2003 North American Taiko
Conference
August 1 – 3,
2003 Sacramento, California @California State University,
Sacramento
Mission: To build a network and community between taiko
groups in North America To document the history of North American taiko To
pass on the traditions and repertoire of North American taiko To support the
artistic development of North American taiko
Dear Friends:
Greetings from the Japanese American
Cultural and Community Center (JACCC)! We are proud to announce the 2003 North
American Taiko Conference! This summer, from August 1 – 3, we will hold our
fourth biennial gathering of the North American taiko community for three days
of workshops, discussions, and activities for taiko players young and old,
beginner and veteran, and everyone in between. Through feedback from the
community, we have created what we hope will be a model conference by the goals
listed above.
Each conference, we try to program activities that you have
asked for, so this year, we are including an expanded range of drumming
workshops, a community concert, and opportunities to take private lessons from
some of the finest taiko musicians in North America.
In order to further
refine and simplify the registration processes, we developed this on-line
resource for all of the activities. Here you will find all the information you
need to know about registration, housing options, directions, scheduling, and
more!
We urge you to register as soon as possible!
Workshop selection
priority will be given to those who
register early.
Space is also
limited in the
hotels, dormitories and tickets to the Taiko Jam
concerts have sold out every
year, so please make your arrangements early!
If you have any questions
about registration, please contact Lesley Handa at the JACCC, (213) 628-2725,
fax (213) 617-8576, handa@jaccc.org.
See you in
August!
Sincerely,
